SoulGlow Light Layers

SoulGlow Light Layers is a set of 8 light layers and 8 light enhancing textures.


It was designed to add light and a lovely glow to your images. Since I started shooting RAW I noticed almost all of my photos would come out a little dull, and I also tend to underexpose them. I needed a easy way to liven and lighten them up. That's when I thought of creating Light Layers, they can add glow and light at the same time, and some of them have a subtle texture as well. They give the best results used on "Soft Light" mode. They can still be used on "Overlay" mode, but at a lower opacity.  Since those are light layers, if your opacity is too high on "Overlay" you may end up with a burnt look, so that is why I recommend you use them in "Soft light" mode.   Light Layers can be duplicated for a stronger effect or combined.  A tutorial is included in the file.

I love Christmas music, and this one is probably my fave :)  Do you have a favorite Christmas song?
Today's present for you is a pack of textures, one of them I used in my own Christmas photos this year, and it does look like a fine snow is added in the background (BW version)  :)  How convenient if like us, you do not have snow, yet.  I hope you have fun with them, keep being nice and Santa will bring more, he told me so.

Halloween Freebie, The Graveyard Texture set

All of the texture elements (backgrounds and surface textures) were found in our local cemetery, early this morning :) (You may wonder what I was up to this early in the cemetery, but as it happens, the cemetery lot is located right beside the arena.  And I do spend all my weekend mornings at the arena.  This had me inspired to create a special Halloween freebie)

V. in the evening sun

I just love playing with the setting sun's light, it always has such warmth and an amazing glow...
This is V. enjoying a little moment for herself while Daddy takes care of the new baby girl...
She is still radiant from her new motherhood glow...
I used radiant, from the Soulful Textures set, as a texture on these shots, it fits her so well...

Baby eyes!! - Same action, three different looks...

I really love my new actions, especially the Bright Eyes feature in them. Though this sweetie had wonderful eyes to start with, I added a little extra light to them, and I like the result very much! I used the same action on these next three photos, but edited them differently, to show that you can achieve different results everytime you edit a photo, even when using the same action.

This is the first one I did, I ran my Vintage Portrait action (romance) before converting it to b&w. I wanted the eyes to be bright, and I also wanted the softness this action provides.

On the second one, I ran the same action, and left the tones as they were. I added one texture from my Soulful set (Happy) in Soft Light mode, to keep the airy and light feel.

The third has a different feel to it. I used the same action again, Romance. This time I added two textures from the set (Soothing, and Carefree), but on Overlay and Darken mode, so the overall look is darker.

All this was to show, sometimes one action will provide you a lot of different editing possibilities!

Those textures were created with portraiture work in mind, but work fine as well on nature shots. Designed to enhance, in a natural looking and artistic way your photography work. There are 36 Textures on this pack, and 6 Hazy Wraps. Those wraps are like a textured/tinted silky layer to give a hazy feel to your photo.

At the railroad crossing...

You don't raise heroes, you raise sons. And if you treat them like sons, they'll turn out to be heroes, even if it's just in your own eyes.

I did these two photos at one of my favorite spots where the sun slowly goes down behind the railway. I'm pretty pleased with the results! Well, it goes without saying I have a special bond with the subject, but since I don't have new models for now, you'll have to put up with my portraiture practice featuring my sons! lol... I edited these with two different textures again, the set is taking form gradually... I printed them to see what the textures looked like too, and I love them! They've already found a place in some frames I had!

Moments that leave an imprint on your soul - IV

There are days I wish I could still hold you like the tiny miracle you once were.

Days where I would go back to smelling your apricot scented newborn hair.

But as much as I miss your baby days,

it fills my heart with joy to see the little boy you are today.

I'm currently working on a texture set, so these two photos were done with two of my textures. I used them on a previous post too. I will be trying them out before making them available. If I am allowed some editing time, the set might be coming soon... I'll keep you posted!
